Resilience only way out
5/2/2021 11:18:02 PM
The Jammu Power Development Corporation (JPDCL) has chosen a wrong time for imposing power shutdowns in the winter capital.
The corporation should realize that this is not time to carry out repair works and resort to power shutdowns for hours together as hundreds of COVID-19 positive patients are under home isolation and are dependent on oxygen concentrators for their survival.
The helmsmen should realize that every household doesn’t have generators and power cuts during the Covid times could prove fatal as people are grasping for breath.
The second wave of COVID-19 has hit the entire country hard and Jammu and Kashmir has been no exception. People are entirely dependent upon the state to provide them with all the facilities. It’s a well established fact that everyone cannot be hospitalized as the space has shrunk in the health facilities.
So home quarantine is the only way out and the government has to ensure that people don’t face any difficulties within their homes.
The government also needs to put a mechanism in place to ensure that the Covid patients who are within their homes get the medicines and other supplies at their doorsteps so that need doesn’t arise for them to venture out to buy anything.
Situation across Jammu city is grim and this fact cannot be discounted.
People also need to be cautious as the COVID is in the air. We cannot afford to move out without wearing masks and social distancing norms have to be followed in letter and spirit. Precaution only can prevent the situation from turning more dangerous.
The vaccination drive has already commenced for the adults across the country. People should realize that getting vaccinated is the only way out. The vaccinations will lead to developing herd immunity and for that 80% of population needs to be given the jabs.
The crux of the matter is that we are in a state of war as things are becoming difficult. We have to stay calm and composed. The peak hasn’t come yet. The worse is not over yet. Jammu is passing through a crucial phase. It’s a real test for people as well as the administration. The pandemic is raging and has shaken the entire country to its core. Remaining resilient is the only way out. This too shall pass.
