Delay in setting up of oxygen plant, lack of health facilities at DH Poonch adds to woes of people | | | Rajesh Tandon
Early times Report
Poonch, May 5: Continuous delay in setting up of oxygen plant at District Hospital Poonch and lack of basic facilities has added to woes of patients amid COVID surge. Meanwhile, Director Health Services Jammu gave irresponsible reply on the issue and said that except media nobody complains about it. The UT government’s half-hearted initiative has resulted in patents’ suffering at the district headquarters hospital. The degradation of this hospital can be assessed from the fact that no ambulance is provided to the critical patients to carry them to GMC Jammu. Doctors have the habit of doing private practice in the government accommodation and at times they call their patients at hospital. Of late DC Poonch took note of it and got this malpractice stopped. The condition of district hospital Poonch is same as it also lacks basic medical facilities like critical care ambulances, stretchers and wheel chairs. Attendants themselves have to drag the patients to reach the hospital emergency, ward as well as parking area. There is a shortage of doctors, moreover who are appointed their patients have to to fight a war to get proper treatment. Patients suffer due to shortage of medical supply and inadequate medical facilities, said Avinash Khana, social activist and advocate. As we all know covid-19 has paralyzed whole world and Poonch is a border area hospital authorities should be ready on to deal with any odd situation, he added. When contacted Director Health Services said that only media complains about it while people have no problem. |
