In Bad Taste | | | A sudden shift in the demeanor of the political class of UT of JK has raised many eyebrows. Not only was such an act of deportment limited to some class or creed, but it has taken the whole UT by surprise. BJP ex MLC Vikram Randhawa’s public rhetoric containing the most unheard unparliamentary language against the government officials as well against the highest authority in Prime Minister’s Office was an uncalled for behavior from him, yet he chose not to refrain from his ‘words’ on public platforms. Though his anger and grievance was against the administrative system, the BJP leader tried to expose the alleged corruption nexus within the party and administration. There is no denying the fact that corruption charges are mounting in Jammu and Kashmir and the iceberg was likely to explode anytime. But the way Vikram Randhawa chose to show the fang of vengeance surely contained the poison of wrath in the bad taste. Politicians of a new genre are no longer in the habit to express patience and insightfulness into the system. But , if they stand wrong in exhibiting their anger and pain in the way Vikram did , then the system too needs to be introspective at all forums. What provoked a person of an MLC status to stoop so low on a public platform, curse the system, charge it with all felonies and even trade volleys of filthy words on administrative officers as well as the high-end politician at the Center needs introspection too. Does the common man who voted politicians to power be ready to get acclimated with the ludicrous mudslinging of the tried, tested and now failed politicians who can stoop low anytime with anything on the public platform in future. Or there still exists any silver lining in the whole dark system. |
