KISHTWAR, May 14: In a significant development, Kishtwar police today booked 7 Namazis including the members of a local Masjid committee after they were found violating the COVID norms by forcefully entering the mosque to offer Friday prayers and ignoring the Imam’s requests for not assembling inside the premises. As per the details available with Early Times, Kishtwar Police booked seven persons including Mushtaq Ahmad s/o Mohd Iqbal, Mohd Irshad s/o Gh Mohd, Gh Hussain s/o Nissar Hussain, Irshad Ahmad s/o Rajabullah, Altaf Hussain s/o Haqim, Gh Hussain and Abdul Wahid, all residents of Wasserkund Kishtwar falling in Ward No 13 for violating the lockdown restrictions. In this regard, case FIR No 90/20121 U/S 188 IPC has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar. Kishtwar police has requested the people to stay indoors otherwise stern legal action will be taken against the violators. Speaking to Early Times, a senior police officer said that seven persons who were identified has been named in the FIR while the identification of other persons is being ascertained, adding that people irrespective of any religious affiliation should adhere to COVID protocols and must follow the guidelines and SOPs in place. He said that strict possible action will be initiated against the violators. “Imam Sahib of Masjid requested the people not to enter inside the mosque since government has put ban on mass gatherings inside the mosque but people are giving deaf ear to the repeated pleas made by the Masjid Imam forcing police to take legal action against the violators to prevent such incidents,” said the senior officials requesting the people to stay inside and follow the guidelines and instructions issued by the government from time to time.
