Highly placed sources said that there is a big flaw in the existing infrastructure which causing the deaths of such a huge number of patients. Some family members of deceased COVID patients have also raised doubt over the adequate flow of oxygen in the dedicated COVID wards.
Highly placed sources said that officers responsible for deaths in GMC are cunningly keeping Lieutenant Governor’s office in dark. “Instead of admitting their criminal negligence these officers are present a wrong picture”, sources said and added that such misdeeds of these officers are going to be proved costly for the people of Jammu province. On Friday out of a total of 60 deaths reported in Jammu and Kashmir, 22 Corona patients lost their lives in GMC Jammu only. Similarly, three more patients were declared ‘brought dead’ in the same hospital which is the backbone of the health infrastructure of Jammu province.
During the last fourteen days number of deaths have been increasing in GMC Jammu reasons best known to those who are at the helm of the affairs.
During the first wave of Coronavirus, GMC Jammu-the major referral hospital in the Jammu region was virtually turned into a battle ground among senior doctors with patient caretaking a severe hit.
Amid the peak of Coronavirus during last year, the then principal, Dr. Nasib Chand Digra, a prominent surgeon, had opted for a voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) due to infighting and chaos.
Dr. Digra, in a two-page letter to the lieutenant governor Manoj Sinha, had offered to opt for VRS because of the interference in working of the Government Medical College in Jammu by “extra-institutional officials”.
