SRINAGAR, May 17: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported the highest number of Corona Virus deaths in a single day as 73 more people died due to the virus in the past 24 hours. With this the death toll reached 3,222 even though 3,344 new infections were reported during the same period of time. Jammu district reported 24 deaths followed by Rajouri district 10 deaths, Srinagar district eight deaths, Poonch district six deaths, Udhampur district five deaths, Kathua, Kupwara and Shopian districts three deaths each, Samba, Ramban, Reasi, Anantnag and Bandipora districts two deaths each and Kulgam district one death. Jammu district reported 613 fresh cases followed by Srinagar district 495 cases, Budgam district 376 deaths, Anantnag and Udhampur districts 228 deaths each, Kulgam district 164 cases, Pulwama district 145 cases, Bandipora district 137 cases, Kupwara district 124 cases, Baramulla district 118 cases, Kathua district 115 cases, Rajouri district 106 cases, Doda district 90 cases, Samba district 89 cases, Ganderbal district 82 cases, Shopian district 57 cases, Poonch district 56 cases, Reasi district 51 cases, Ramban district 43 cases and Kishtwar district 27 cases. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,344 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,418 from Jammu division and 1,926 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 47,952. Also 73 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 54 from Jammu division and 19 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 4,042 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,082 from Jammu division and 2,960 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 47,952 positive cases, 50,852 are active positive, 1, 93,878 have recovered and 3,222 have died; 1,493 in Jammu division and 1,729 in Kashmir division. Out of 79, 55,865 test results available, 77, 07,913 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 19, 74,299 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 75,986 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 50,852 in isolation and 1, 21,015 in home surveillance. Besides, 17, 23,224 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 58,525 positive cases, 7,866 active positive, 49,969 recovered, 690 deaths; Baramulla has 18,156 positive cases, 3,080 active positive, 14,854 recovered, 222 deaths; Budgam has 16,398 positive cases, 4,080 active positive, 12,166 recovered, 152 deaths; Anantnag has 11,775 positive cases, 4,140 active positive, 7,497 recovered, 138 deaths; Pulwama has 10,887 positive cases, 2,564 active positive, 8,185 recovered, 138 deaths. “Kupwara has 9,496 positive cases, 1,761 active positive, 7,612 recovered, 123 deaths; Kulgam has 7,924 positive cases, 3,395 active positive, 4,448 recovered, 81 deaths; Bandipora has 7,090 positive cases, 987 active positive, 6,027 recovered, 76 deaths; Ganderbal has 7,050 positive cases, 1,105 active positive, 5,883 recovered, 62 deaths and Shopian has 4,538 positive cases, 1,158 active positive cases, 3,333 recovered, 47 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 44,835 positive cases, 8,043 active positive, 35,950 recovered, 842 deaths; Udhampur has 9,070 positive cases, 1,647 active positive, 7,324 recovered, 99 deaths; Rajouri has 8,182 positive cases, 3,415 active positive, 4,631 recovered, 136 deaths; Kathua has 7,405 positive cases, 1,378 active positive, 5,929 recovered, 98 deaths; Samba has 5,736 positive cases, 2,125 active positive, 3,526 recovered, 85 deaths. “Doda has 4,772 positive cases, 961 active positive, 3,737 recovered, 74 deaths; Reasi has 4,538 positive cases, 703 active positive, 3,811 recovered, 24 deaths; Poonch has 4,283 positive cases, 1,267 active positive, 2,950 recovered, 66 deaths; Ramban has 3,729 positive cases, 768 active positive, 2,918 recovered, 43 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,563 positive cases, 409 active positive, 3,128 recovered, 26 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 47,952 positive cases, 21,001 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
