Senior doctors asked to frequently visit COVID wards | Impact of LG’s viist | | Early Times Report
Jammu, May 17: Taking serious note of on-going deaths of helpless COVID patients in Government Medical College & Hospital (GMC) Jammu, authorities have ordered senior faculty members of the GMC to make frequent rounds of wards where Corona positive patients are getting treatment. This decision has been taken after visit of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at GMC Jammu on Sunday to review situation in Jammu’s premier health institute. The Lt Governor enquired about COVID care facilities, availability of oxygen support beds, functionality of oxygen generation plants, besides compliance of earlier directions including regular rounds of HoDs and senior doctors in the wards. The LG has directed that senior doctors should also take the front line in informing people to adopt safe practices and COVID protocol. Seniors must leverage their role as both a doctor caring & treating patients and a public health advocate containing COVID pandemic. After visit of the LG at GMC on Sunday Atal Dulloo (IAS), Financial Commissioner, Health & Medical Education Department, issued directions to the Principal GMC Jammu to ensure supervision of the patients by the senior faculty members. “As you are aware that mortality rate in COVID positive patients has increased and there is need for reducing the same which requires immediate corrective measures,” reads the order. “It is desirable that the senior Faculty members of the concerned departments of your institution be directed to increase their presence by making frequent rounds of wards, where the COVID positive patients are admitted, so that such patients are properly looked after and treated, which will help us in reducing the mortality also,” the communication added. |
