Meanwhile, J&K UT has received fresh consignment of Covishield vaccine to further intensify immunization drive, HMED said. However, the Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) has expressed serious concern over alleged shortage of vaccine in the Kashmir valley.
HMED said the WHO has provided 100 oxygen concentrators to support UT of J&K in Covid Pandemic mitigation efforts.
J&K has on Tuesday received fresh consignment of Covishield vaccine. The immunisation drive in Jammu and Kashmir division to continue on a war footing from May 19. The government has also ensured for a continuous supply of vaccine doses to meet requirements, the HMED said.
Almost all political parties have expressed concern over closing of vaccination centres in the Kashmir valley, where only few hundred people were vaccinated against thousands in Jammu region.
The EJAC president Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam also expressed serious concern over the non-availability of COVID-19 vaccines for six days in the valley. Voicing the concerns the senior trade union leader said, "not a single person has been vaccinated since past six days in Valley till last night, while as there has been no paucity of the vaccine at Jammu on the other hand. " Both the divisions need to be treated equally and there shouldn't be any irrational and uneven distribution of vaccine”, he said in a statement.
