SRINAGAR, May 19: The COVID-19 recovery rate in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 78.95 percent as 4,338 virus affected patients recovered in the past 24 hours. The union territory reported 3,969 fresh cases with 62 deaths being reported during the same period of time.
Srinagar district reported 675 cases followed by Jammu district 493 cases, Budgam district 411 cases, Baramulla district 371 cases, Anantnag district 311 cases, Kupwara district 190 cases, Pulwama district 171 cases, Kathua district 158 cases, Udhampur district 154 cases, Kulgam district 149 cases, Rajouri district 142 cases, Ganderbal district 118 cases, Bandipora district 113 cases, Samba district 112 cases, Poonch district 106 cases, Shopian district 85 cases, Ramban district 68 cases, Doda district 64 cases, Reasi district 53 cases and Kishtwar district 25 cases.
Jammu district reported 22 deaths followed by Srinagar district eight deaths, Kathua and Samba districts five deaths each, Baramulla and Bandipora districts three deaths each, Udhampur, Poonch, Reasi, Budgam, Anantnag and Shopian two deaths each and Rajouri, Kupwara, Ganderbal & Kulgam districts one death each.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 3,969 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,375from Jammu division and 2,594 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 55,888. Also 62 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 39 from Jammu division and 23 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 4,338 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,385 from Jammu division and 2,953 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 55,888 positive cases, 50,494 are active positive, 2, 02,039 have recovered and 3,355 have died; 1,571in Jammu division and 1,784 in Kashmir division.
Out of 80, 45,445 test results available, 77, 89,557 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 19, 92,257 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 75,782 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 50,494 in isolation and 1, 27,783 in home surveillance. Besides, 17, 34,843 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 59,866 positive cases, 7,328 active positive, 51,829 recovered, 709 deaths; Baramulla has 18,723 positive cases, 2,785 active positive, 15,709 recovered, 229 deaths; Budgam has 17,263 positive cases, 4,302 active positive, 12,805 recovered, 156 deaths; Anantnag has 12,242 positive cases, 4,285 active positive, 7,815 recovered, 142 deaths; Pulwama has 11,185 positive cases, 2,430 active positive, 8,613 recovered, 142 deaths.
“Kupwara has 9,806 positive cases, 1,764 active positive, 7,915 recovered, 127 deaths; Kulgam has 8,263 positive cases, 3,442 active positive, 4,737 recovered, 84 deaths; Bandipora has 7,337 positive cases, 1,014 active positive, 6,242 recovered, 81 deaths; Ganderbal has 7,284 positive cases, 1,063 active positive, 6,156 recovered, 65 deaths and Shopian has 4,727 positive cases, 1,109 active positive, 3,569 recovered, 49 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 45,850 positive cases, 7,880 active positive, 37,086 recovered, 884 deaths; Udhampur has 9,496 positive cases, 1,840 active positive, 7,550 recovered, 106 deaths; Rajouri has 8,465 positive cases, 3,432 active positive, 4,890 recovered, 143 deaths; Kathua has 7,746 positive cases, 1,335 active positive, 6,303 recovered, 108 deaths; Samba has 5,955 positive cases, 2,241 active positive, 3,622 recovered, 92 deaths.
“Doda has 4,895 positive cases, 1,012 active positive, 3,808 recovered, 75 deaths; Reasi has 4,651 positive cases, 643 active positive, 3,982 recovered, 26 deaths; Poonch has 4,512 positive cases, 1,376 active positive, 3,068 recovered, 68 deaths; Ramban has 3,985 positive cases, 807 active positive, 3,135 recovered, 43 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,637 positive cases, 406 active positive, 3,205 recovered, 26 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 55,888 positive cases, 21,119 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
