5/19/2021 10:14:17 PM

Early Times Report

Jammu, May 19: Dogra youth & political activist, Partap Singh Jamwal has accused the UT government of neglecting Jammu region. He said that JK LG announced a Rs 2.94 crore relief package for people employed in the tourism industry in the Union Territory, with Jammu’s share only Rs 1.68 lakh against Kashmir’s share 2,92,54,000.
He alleged that this clearly indicates the govt taking Jammu region for granted and promoting only Kashmir. He said that peoples of Jammu region are totally disappointed after they were being left out of the relief package.
Partap Singh alleged that the tourism sector of Jammu region is on verge of collapse as successive governments have failed to fulfill promises made to the region. A majority of the projects announced have been left midway. Even in promotion activities, development and relief packages only for Kashmir.
He said that the LG led government in J&K, which has been run either by the BJP led NDA coalition has always given preference to Kashmir. He said that in the past couple of months, especially after abrogation of Article 370, Jammu is facing discrimination on all fronts.
Earlier they brought their own people in liquor business from outside the UT, then they gave mining tenders to their known toll plazas were installed in Jammu and now any relief for deprived people of the tourism sector, Jammu had been neglected. Partap demanded that LG administration must respect the emotions of Jammu people and not force them to be on streets to fight for their rights.
