Social media platform that raises the voice against injustice and oppression
5/19/2021 11:35:48 PM
Vijay Garg

There is no place for violence in any civilized society. Violent tendencies have been part of animal thinking, not human nature. Nature has mixed the aggressive nature in the nature of the animal. Violent attacks by animals are not associated with caste, religion or creed, because violence has no religion. Intelligence is the only measure that sets a human being apart from an animal. But when there is an attempt to cover the violent incidents in the society in a racial, religious or communal manner, it is only natural that any such form of media is called into question. No single person or group of persons can be considered representative of a nation. Any inhuman or degrading behavior adopted by a violent person must be condemned in the strongest possible terms and it must be ensured that the person concerned is punished in a way that is effective in the long run. But in the context of such incidents, we must also have in our hearts and minds a sense of shared responsibility to maintain social and communal harmony, which has become an important need of the hour.
In modern society, social media is the platform to mobilize and collectively present public opinion. A platform that has the potential to make the voice against injustice and oppression stronger. It is easy to know one’s own opinion on a subject. The goal can be literary, political or commercial. There is hardly a better and faster way to reach the majority of people at the same time than today’s society. Today’s educated class is not unfamiliar with the way in which social media has taken the arm of social reformers. The positive role of social media in the success of Anna Hazare’s campaign against corruption is before us all. From an economic point of view, both these platforms have the potential to set new horizons for any kind of business. In short, if we see the whole world transformed into a village today, the role of the media in this cannot be ignored.
Social media seems to refer to events in such a way as to explain to the listener or viewer what you mean by this particular event.
Now let’s talk about the pressure element that social media does not want to miss any opportunity to present its news or report headline as ‘sensational’. Although people associated with the media may argue that their primary purpose is to cover the events in detail, but not to jeopardize the harmony between the different sections of the society, this is also the responsibility of the media. Will have Similarly, in the event of a war between two countries, the work of the media cannot be limited to covering the border war as a parallel war is being fought on the economic and social fronts as well. Apart from this, the morale of the soldiers, the support of the common man for the policies of the country, etc., are some of the factors that the media has to play a responsible role in reporting in the interest of national security.
Social media, synonymous with Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. Now channels running on Facebook have also been invented. The person or group of people using these tools is not free from the ‘pressure element’. TRP Here, too, every effort is made to mobilize various resources to get the maximum number of comments (likes received) or likes (how many people liked). A citation is needed to clarify the point. The headline of a post with the name of a tall political leader was made something like ‘No more fruit leaders ....... read the full story’ while the real issue was just that the concerned leader He was not included in the list of star campaigners of his political party, meaning ‘fruit leaders are no longer the party’s star campaigners’. Under the policy of ‘more comments-more advertisements’, an attempt is made to present the headline in a sensational way. Similarly, in order to spread false news or rumors to more people, they resort to a previous event or natural calamity. Such a way of providing information deeply undermines the credibility of the entire social media. Such rumors not only undermine social cohesion but also pose a challenge to the internal security of the country.
Even the most important and sensitive issues like national security and social fraternity are not being taken seriously by the social. In such cases, the listeners themselves need to be aware. Argument is often given for freedom of speech or self-expression but where the question is of the unity and integrity of the country, it is imperative that a limit be set on freedom of expression.
