SRINAGAR, May 28: 14.54 percent of COVID-19 cases are active in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir. The union territory has so far reported 2, 84,431 positive cases out of which 41,382 cases are active. 2,803 new cases were reported in past 24 hours with 56 deaths also taking place.
Srinagar district reported 382 new cases followed by Jammu district 320 cases, Kupwara district 228 cases, Budgam district 223 cases, Anantnag district 207 cases, Baramulla district 204 cases, Pulwama district 179 cases, Ganderbal district 168 cases, Rajouri district 107 cases, Kulgam district 94 cases, Poonch district 92 cases, Doda district 82 cases, Reasi district 80 cases, Kathua district 79 cases, Ramban district 77 cases, Udhampur and Samba districts 71 cases each, Bandipora district 57 cases, Shopian district 52 cases and Kishtwar district 30 cases.
Jammu district reported 13 fresh deaths of Corona Virus followed by Rajouri district eight deaths, Baramulla district six deaths, Srinagar district five deaths, Budgam and Anantnag districts four deaths each, Udhampur, Samba, Pulwama, Bandipora and Kulgam districts two deaths each and Doda, Kathua, Kishtwar, Poonch, Reasi & Kupwara districts one death each.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 2,803 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 1,009 from Jammu division and 1,794 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 84,431. Also 56 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 30 from Jammu division and 26 from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 3,637 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,741 from Jammu division and 1,896 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 84,431 positive cases, 41,382 are active positive, 2, 39,254 have recovered and 3,795 have died; 1,838 in Jammu division and 1,957 in Kashmir division.
Out of 84, 48,327 test results available, 81, 63,896 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 20, 67,466 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 79,746 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 41,382 in isolation and 1, 45,443 in home surveillance. Besides, 17, 97,100 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 64,207 positive cases, 5,361 active positive, 58,086 recovered, 760 deaths; Baramulla has 20,899 positive cases, with 3,116 active positive, 17,528 recovered, 255 deaths; Budgam has 19,776 positive cases, 2,998 active positive, 16,603 recovered, 175 deaths; Anantnag has 14,127 positive cases, 4,022 active positive, 9,944 recovered, 161 deaths; Pulwama has 12,697 positive cases, 2,268 active positive, 10,266 recovered, 163 deaths.
“Kupwara has 11,576 positive cases, 1,949 active positive, 9,488 recovered, 139 deaths; Kulgam has 9,625 positive cases, 2,052 active positive, 7,477 recovered, 96 deaths; Ganderbal has 8,456 positive cases, 1,310 active positive, 7,079 recovered, 67 deaths; Bandipora has 8,266 positive cases, 988 active positive, 7,191 recovered, 87 deaths and Shopian has 5,217 positive cases, 1,176 active positive, 3,987 recovered, 54 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 49,715 positive cases, 6,271 active positive, 42,418 recovered, 1026 deaths; Udhampur has 10,437 positive cases, 895 active positive, 9,424 recovered, 118 deaths; Rajouri has 9,486 positive cases, 2,330 active positive, 6,979 recovered, 177 deaths; Kathua has 8,663 positive cases, 748 active positive, 7,787 recovered, 128 deaths; Samba has 6,677 positive cases, 1,887 active positive, 4,683 recovered, 107 deaths.
“Doda has 5,516 positive cases, 1,222 active positive, 4,207 recovered, 87 deaths; Reasi has 5,205 positive cases, 606 active positive, 4,563 recovered, 36 deaths; Poonch has 5,039 positive cases, 971 active positive, 3,990 recovered, 78 deaths; Ramban has 4,920 positive cases, 902 active positive, 3,969 recovered, 49 deaths and Kishtwar has 3,927 positive cases, 310 active positive, 3,585 recovered, 32 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 84,431 positive cases, 21,483 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
