Raids conducted against drug traders, accused arrested

Reasi, May 30: In the drive Ek Yudh Nashe Ke Virudh against drug abusers launched by district police Reasi & tightening noose against criminals, team of police station Mahore laid a surprise naka at Shajroo Kalwa Mahore, intercepted and nabbed one notorious drug peddler Perwaiz Ahmed s/o Abdul Gani r/o Gool and recovered 1.25 kgs of charas like substance from his custody.
While following the laid down procedure under NDPS Act all the banned drug recovered from the accused has been seized and sealed after taking due samples for expert opinion from Forensic Science Laboratory Jammu.
In this regard FIR No. 26/2021 under sections 8/20 NDPS Act has been lodged in Police Station Mahore and investigation set in. Accused is a notorious drug peddler of the area, remained involved in case FIR No 11/2011 U/S 457/380/RPC of PS Gool, and FIR No 02/2014 US 8/20 NDPS Act of Railway police station Anantnag Srinagar, his name has also reflected in the investigation of other case FIRs lodged under NDPS Act of Police Station Mahore. For further uninterrupted surveillance of the accused against unlawful criminal activities, history sheet of the accused Perwaiz Ahmed will be opened & will remain registered in Register Number 10 of the Police Station Mahore.
In another action team of police station Arnas developed an information that one Baldev Singh s/o Sunder Singh r/o Dhanour Morha Barmasta Tehsil Arnas District Reasi has clandestinely & illegally cultivated poppy crop in his fields. In this regards FIR No. 51/2021 U/S 8/18/29 NDPS Act is registered at Police Station Arnas and team led by SHO Arnas along with Naib Tehsildar (Executive Magistrate) Dhanour, reached on the spot, where it was found that Poppy Crop spread over good chunk of land in terrace fields of a hill.
After seeking magisterial orders on the spot and following necessary legal procedures, nearly mature banned cultivation was destroyed in the presence of the Executive Magistrate.
In a separate raid, team of police station Reasi raided the house of one Makhan Singh @Guddu s/o Kamla r/o Salal Reasi and recovered 9 litres of illicit liquor (Hooch) from his possession and destroyed 4 litres of lahan on the spot. Accused got arrested in FIR number 121/2021 U/S 48(a) Excise Act registered against the accused in Police Station Reasi and investigations set in.
