Early Times Report

Jammu, May 30: Reacting to an order passed by the Police Head Quarter vide No: PHQJ&K 1355 of 2021 dated 22-4-2021 regarding terminating the services of Village Defense Committee,/SPOs having completed 60 years of age, the AAP- Jammu in a press release issued here has expressed great surprise and wonder that the present dispensation in these hard days of Pandemic, is snatching jobs from those who stood by the government and common people in protecting lives risking their own, at the hands of anti-social & anti-National elements at a time when people and the government badly needed them.
The release said that given due regard to the norms set by government, the terminated VDC/SPOs should have been given compensation in lieu of golden handshake or next of their kin should be given engagement as VDC/SPO so that the concerned family is not forced to come on road for earning bread for the whole family.
The release further said that on one hand, government claims of Nationalism from every roofTop, on the other hand, terminates the services of the VDC/SPOs who risked their lives upholding true Nationalism. The release appeals to the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to look deep into the matter compassionately and take suitable necessary action in the matter so that families of such SPOs/VDC members do not face starvation and provide one time compensation to the outgoing VDC/SPO and provide job to the next of their kin in these challenging days of COVID-19 during which the poor class of society is badly hit, the release demanded.
