MIET organises 2nd edition of TEDx event

Jammu, May 30: The Model Institute of Engineering and Technology organized the second edition of TED event under the licensed name TEDxMIETJammu in the virtual mode.
TED is a not-for-profit organization which has its headquarters in California. It provides the license for the TEDx events, which are world renowned events inviting speakers who have had extraordinary journeys and story’s to share. The theme for the event was “U.R.G.E” (Uncover, Reflect, Grow and Evolve) which encompasses the process of discovering yourself and chasing your dreams.
The event started with the welcome address of Ankur Gupta Director MIET who appreciated the speakers for gracing the occasion and announced the theme for the event which was followed by the opening remarks for the event by Ankita Nanda, TEDx Curator and Head of Department, MIET School of Management.
The invited speakers for TEDxMIETJammu included Kapil Arora, Iron Man, Author and Fit India Ambassador, Prasanna Veeraswamy, seasoned technology leader and serial traveler, Vanika Choudhary, founder Sequel, Vishal Bindra, Founder and CEO, ACPL System and Captain Zoya Aggarwal, Air India. Kapil Arora in his talk shared his journey from fat to fit, from being able to run for 3 minutes only to completing the Iron Man race including a 3.8 km swim, 180 km cycling and a full marathon of 42 km, which he completed in under 15 hours. The second talk was by Prasanna Veeraswamy, who shared his journey of how being a part of the corporate world he managed to travel more than 200 countries and 500 plus cities.
Vanika Choudhary, talked of her journey from the corporate world to the founder of Sequel, a chain of farm to table restaurants in Mumbai using only organic produce. Vishal Bindra, Founder and CEO, ACPL Systems, one of India’s largest cybersecurity firm spoke about how he forayed into cybersecurity
Captain Zoya, who is the first woman pilot in the world to command a Boeing 777 jet, talked overcoming resistance at home to pursue her dreams. The event live stream was viewed by over 2000 people. It was hosted by Deeksha Singh, Assistant Professor, MIET School of Management. A formal vote of thanks was presented by Ankita Nanda.
