Srinagar, June 4: An Army soldier drowned in a waterbody after he slipped and fell from a bridge in south Kashmir district of Shopian on Friday.
Official sources said that the soldier, identified as Arun Kumar, was on patrolling when he slipped and fell into a waterbody from a bridge near Sedow area in Shopian.
“Other soldiers tried to rescue him but failed,” they said, adding the body of the jawan was later fished out from the waterbody. They said Kumar is a resident of Pathankot in Punjab. “After completing all the formalities, the body of the deceased would be sent to his native place for last rites,” they added. |
