SRINAGAR, June 4: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reported 1,723 new cases of COVID-19 following which the total number of positive cases reached 2, 97,602. Following 34 fresh deaths the death toll due to the virus reached 4,026. Srinagar district reported 303 cases followed by Baramulla district 177 cases, Jammu district 165 cases, Pulwama district 138 cases, Budgam district 128 cases, Kupwara district 111 cases, Poonch district 95 cases, Kulgam district 88 cases, Ramban district 75 cases, Rajouri district 73 cases, Anantnag district 72 cases, Udhampur district 53 cases, Bandipora and Doda districts 48 cases each, Ganderbal district 37 cases, Kishtwar district 31 cases, Samba district 25 cases, Shopian and Kathua districts 22 cases each and Reasi district 12 cases. Srinagar and Budgam districts each reported six fresh deaths of Corona Virus followed by Jammu district five deaths, Anantnag district four deaths, Kathua district three deaths, Bandipora, Kulgam, Udhampur and Ramban districts two deaths each and Ganderbal & Doda districts one death each. The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,723 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 599 from Jammu division and 1,124from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 2, 97,602. Also 34 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, 13 from Jammu division and 21 from Kashmir division. Moreover, 2,731 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 1,107 from Jammu division and 1,624 from Kashmir division. Out of 2, 97,602 positive cases, 29,615 are active positive, 2, 63,961 have recovered and 4,026 have died; 1,960 in Jammu division and 2,066 in Kashmir division. Out of 87, 46,810 test results available, 84, 49,208 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 21, 35,558 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 80,993 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 29,615 in isolation and 1, 45,655 in home surveillance. Besides, 18, 75,269 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 66,419 positive cases, 3,694 active positive, 61,933 recovered, 792 deaths; Baramulla has 21,915 positive cases, 2,432 active positive, 19,222 recovered, 261 deaths; Budgam has 20,876 positive cases, 1,696 active positive, 18,992 recovered, 188 deaths; Anantnag has 14,913 positive cases, 3,409 active positive, 11,329 recovered, 175 deaths; Pulwama has 13,680 positive cases, 2,093 active positive, 11,415recovered, 172 deaths. “Kupwara has 12,505 positive cases, 1,433 active positive, 10,924 recovered, 148 deaths; Kulgam has 10,188 positive cases, 1,429 active positive, 8,651 recovered, 108 deaths; Ganderbal has 8,962 positive cases, 1,027 active positive, 7,865 recovered, 70 deaths; Bandipora has 8,651 positive cases, 708 active positive, 7,847 recovered, 96 deaths and Shopian has 5,395 positive cases, 1,082 active positive, 4,257 recovered, 56 deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 51,380 positive cases, 4,586 active positive, 45,704 recovered, 1090 deaths; Udhampur has 10,776 positive cases, 499 active positive, 10,149 recovered, 128 deaths; Rajouri has 9,982 positive cases, 924 active positive, 8,869 recovered, 189 deaths; Kathua has 8,898 positive cases, 324 active positive, 8,434 recovered, 140 deaths; Samba has 6,857 positive cases, 935 active positive, 5,809 recovered, 113 deaths. “Doda has 5,951 positive cases, 1,044 active positive, 4,815 recovered, 92 deaths; Poonch has 5,479 positive cases, 947 active positive, 4,453 recovered, 79 deaths; Reasi has 5,366 positive cases, 361 active positive, 4,967 recovered, 38 deaths; Ramban has 5,307 positive cases, 766 active positive, 4,485 recovered, 56 deaths and Kishtwar has 4,102 positive cases, 226 active positive, 3,841 recovered, 35 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 2, 97,602 positive cases, 21,688 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
