| DC Rajouri acts tough against mining mafia, takes strong note of illegal extraction | | |

RAJOURI, June 4: Amid the escalating situation against the mining mafia and taking cognizance of viral videos and news regarding the drying up of dug wells, bore wells, springs and hand pumps in Saranoo and adjoining habitations due to illegal/unabated lifting/extraction of river bed material with the use of heavy machinery by the proprietors of Diamond Stone Crusher Saranoo and Shanker Stone Crusher Saranoo, Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Rajesh Kumar Shavan took an extensive tour of the effected Panchayat and catchment area of Manawar Tawi.
During this tour, he visited the dug well of New Saranoo Bridge Water Supply Scheme and took detailed review about the alleged lowering of water level of this water body. The officers of Jal Shakti Vibaagh briefed him that the level of water has reduced upto 8-10 ft. He directed them for the desilting of dugwell so that actual situation can be assessed.
He also visited the various spots of illegal extraction in Manawar Tawi. One such spot of excessive destruction was near the Old Lift Irrigation Scheme Saranoo where he visited and assured for early, immediate and necessary action against all those involved in this illegal loot of natural resources. Moreover on spot directions were issued for stopping the operation of Stone crushers during night hours. |
