| Mauled body of missing 4-yr-old girl recovered in Budgam | | |

Srinagar, Jun 4: Mauled body of a four-year-old girl, who was attacked and taken away by a leopard late last evening, was on Friday morning recovered from a nursery in central Kashmir district of Budgam.
Official sources said that four-year-old Ada Yasir Mir went missing while playing in the lawn of her residence at Ompura in Budgam last evening. ?The locals believed that she was attacked and taken away by a leopard, who was seen in the area few times,? they said.
On receiving the information, Budgam police together with locals and wildlife department constituted various teams for tracing the girl. ?Police, locals and wild life employees continued search operation throughout the night to trace the missing girl,? they said.
Police also used sniffer dogs to trace the girl following dense bushy nursery situated in the locality. After a massive search, her mauled body was found in the nearby nursery.
A police official said that preliminary investigation suggests that the girl was attacked and mauled by some wild animal, probably a leopard. ?After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body was handed over to her relatives for last rites,? he said. Police has registered a case and initiated investigation into the incident. |
