LG Sinha's initiative hailed | | |
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha's initiative to set up 5-bedded COVID care centers in panchayats across Jammu and Kashmir has been hailed by one and all, but the reports emanating from ground suggest that the field staff assigned with the job has not been able to do justice with the idea. In many areas where these centers have been set up, people have been alleging that facilities are not upto the mark. There are problems like no washrooms, no electricity and no oxygen. In many areas, people have alleged that these centers are unfit for humans and treating Covid positive patients won't be possible without facilities. Rs one lakh have been sanctioned for each panchayat to set up these centers but it appears that not much money has been spent by the officials to develop these facilities. These centers have been set to fight the possible third wave of COVID-19 that may break out as the experts have predicted that the third wave could affect the rural areas and things can turn ugly. LG Sinha's move has been appreciated by everyone as it was a sincere effort to reach out to the people. It depicts the vision of a leader, who has anticipated that the situation can take an ugly turn if the proper facilities are not put in place. The officials need to ensure that these centers are equipped and are provided with the facilities that are needed to handle the Covid cases. Ones, who are trying to indulge in eyewash need to be identified and shown their right place. The Covid is an emergency situation and it needs to be handled in a proper way. During the second wave of COVID-19, LG Sinha monitored the situation personally and ensured all the facilities are provided to hospitals so that patients don't face any difficulties. The Lieutenant Governor personally visited the Government Medical College Jammu Hospital to take stock of the measures put in place to handle the Covid cases. Since the second wave of COVID-19 has hit Jammu and Kashmir, LG Sinha has been leading from the front and has kept the entire administration on toes. The officials, who are on the field need to bear in mind that if they don't deliver they will end up in a soup. Setting up Covid care centers is the priority of the administration and it should not be messed up.
