COVID-19: JK reports1184 new cases, 11 deaths

SRINAGAR, June 8: As 2,880 recoveries were reported in the past 24 hours the COVID-19 recovery rate in Jammu & Kashmir reached 91.43 percent. Following 1,184 new cases the positive cases reached 3, 02,651; with 11 fresh deaths the death toll reached 4,101.
Srinagar district reported 245 cases followed by Baramulla district 109, Budgam district 89, Pulwama district 84, Jammu district 75, Doda district 74, Poonch district 64, Kupwara district 60, Anantnag district 55, Kulgam district 42, Rajouri district 40, Bandipora and Ramban districts 37 cases each, Reasi and Kathua districts 35 cases each, Ganderbal district 29, Udhampur district 27, Samba district 22, Shopian district 13 and Kishtwar district 12 cases.
The Jammu & Kashmir administration through the media bulletin informed that 1,184 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 421 from Jammu division and 763 from Kashmir division, have been reported today, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 3, 02,651. Also 11 COVID-19 deaths have been reported, five from Jammu division and six from Kashmir division.
Moreover, 2,880 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 996 from Jammu division and 1,884 from Kashmir division. Out of 3, 02,651 positive cases, 21,817 are active positive, 2, 76,733 have recovered and 4,101 have died; 1,993 in Jammu division and 2,108 in Kashmir division.
Out of 89, 32,882 test results available, 86, 30,231 samples have tested negative till date. Till date 21, 80,670 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 81,496 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 21,817 in isolation and 1, 45,660 in home surveillance. Besides, 19, 27,596 persons have completed their surveillance period.
The bulletin said that Srinagar has 67,311 positive cases, 2,826 active positive, 63,684 recovered, 801 deaths; Baramulla has 22,344 positive cases, 2,022 active positive, 20,054 recovered, 268 deaths; Budgam has 21,349 positive cases, 1,378 active positive, 19,776 recovered, 195 deaths; Anantnag has 15,215 positive cases, 1,702 active positive, 13,327 recovered, 186 deaths; Pulwama has 14,089 positive cases, 1,528 active positive, 12,385 recovered, 176 deaths.
“Kupwara has 12,900 positive cases, 1,113 active positive, 11,638 recovered, 149 deaths; Kulgam has 10,457 positive cases, 1,224 active positive, 9,124 recovered, 109 deaths; Ganderbal has 9,132 positive cases, 670 active positive, 8,392 recovered, 70 deaths; Bandipora has 8,806 positive cases, 539 active positive, 8,170 recovered, 97deaths and Shopian has 5,450 positive cases, 672 active positive, 4,721 recovered, 57 deaths,” reads the bulletin.
The bulletin said that Jammu has 51,731 positive cases, 3,364 active positive, 47,265 recovered, 1,102 deaths; Udhampur has 10,878 positive cases, 336 active positive, 10,413 recovered, 129 deaths; Rajouri has 10,177 positive cases, 727 active positive, 9,254 recovered, 196 deaths; Kathua has 9,000 positive cases, 193 active positive, 8,661 recovered, 146 deaths; Samba has 6,924 positive cases, 388 active positive, 6,421 recovered, 115 deaths.
“Doda has 6,159 positive cases, 1,041 active positive, 5,025 recovered, 93 deaths; Poonch has 5,684 positive cases, 1,044 active positive, 4,560 recovered, 80 deaths; Reasi has 5,450 positive cases, 210 active positive, 5,202 recovered, 38 deaths; Ramban has 5,426 positive cases, 632 active positive, 4,737 recovered, 57 deaths and Kishtwar has 4,169 positive cases, 208 active positive, 3,924 recovered, 37 deaths,” reads the bulletin. Out of 3, 02,651 positive cases, 21,761 have been reported as travelers.
The bulletin has informed the people that the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least two meters from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
