SLCA organizes workshop for NGOs dealing with drug abuse | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 23: June 26th is observed as International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking. On this occasion State level Coordinating Agency (SLCA) J&K an agency working under Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India is organizing series of events from June 21st to June 26th for various stake holders and general masses. In this context today SLCA J&K has organized an online workshop for various NGOs working in the field of drug abuse and other health sectors. Shreya Verma PMU, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment inaugurated the webinar and welcome all participants from 50 NGOs. The theme of the session was “Listen First: Science of Care”. Dr Vinay Kumar, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Social Work, Central University of Jammu was the resource person for the workshop. He through his PPT presentations and discussion informed the participants about the skills needed to identify the drug users and the ways to talk to them. Youth are at great risk and most vulnerable when it comes to experiments with drugs. At last in the workshop today there was discussion on various schemes running under National action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction under MSJE, GOI and how various NGOs can apply to the schemes, so that J&K can become drug free. The workshop ended with vote of thanks by Ms. Pallavi Singh from JKSPYM SLCA J&K.
