LG Sinha pay tributes to Dr Syama Prasad on his death anniversary | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 23: Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory (UT) Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday paid tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mukherjee who died on this day in 1953 in a hospital under detention in Srinagar. Mr Sinha in a tweet on the official Twitter handle of Lt Governor said, “Tributes to the great nationalist Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his Punya tithi. Dr Mookerjee made immense contributions for India's development & sacrificed his life for preserving integrity & unity of our motherland.His great thoughts and resolve are inspirational for all of us”. Dr Mukherjee entered Jammu and Kashmir in 1953 without permit (Identity card) and was arrested at Lakhanpur, gateway of the erstwhile bordering Punjab on May 11. However, he died in a Srinagar hospital on June 23, 1953 due to heart attack. |
