Jammu, June 28: To commemorate “Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” Psychological Counselling Cell , Government Degree College, Ramgarh organized a Webinar ‘Effective Communication and its Importance in today’s World on 28 June 2021 .
The webinar was organized under the guidance of Sushma Chauhan (IAS), Secretary to Government Higher Education Department UT of J&K and under the patronage of Principal of the college Dr. Meeru Abrol.
The objective of the webinar was to prepare students to not only convey their message to someone but also to let them know their feelings and emotions. This will help them to go through the tasks of life with ease and face group discussions and job interviews effectively.
Resource person Dr (Capt.) Anjana Sharma, GGM Science College spoke at length on the topic “Effective communication and its Importance in today’s World”. She explained in detail the difference between miscommunication and effective communication with the help of PowerPoint presentations and related videos and examples too. She highlighted relative tips to overcome barriers in the communication process and how to improve verbal and non verbal communication.
After a formal welcome to the resource person, speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Meeru Abrol, Principal GDC Ramgarh said that the topic of webinar is very effective and the students will learn a lot from it. She emphasized that effective communication skills are essential in all aspects of life. Good communication skills deliver efficiency in communicating goals, strategies and policies as well as sharing best practices and identifying areas for improvement on an individual and group level. A better communicator achieves better outcomes in personal and private life. They instill confidence.
Besides students of college more than twenty NCC SW cadets of GGM Science College have also attended the webinar. The students of semester II and IV of GDC Ramgarh were also joined by Bsc Semester II students of GGM Science College. An interactive session at the end was also conducted among the participants and the speaker.
The formal welcome address was delivered by Prof. Seema Sharma, Associate Professor, Education. The formal vote of Thanks was delivered by Prof. Risha Kumari, Assistant Professor Punjabi.
