Dead tree on Jammu-Poonch Road poses threat to commutters | Reasi administration, BRO in deep slumber | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 28: A dead mango tree on the Jammu-Poonch national highway near Bhambla poses threat to road users, as it can fall off anytime. Neither the district administration of Reasi, nor the Board Roads Organization (BRO) that maintains the road, is taking caring of danger looming over the vehicles pass through the area. The tree is situated near a temple, but the authorities concerned have not woken up to the situation. The tree had dried (dead) at least four years ago, but it seems that instead of removing the tree, the locals as well as the district administration, is waiting for a disaster. Daily hundreds of the vehicles ply on Jammu-Poonch Road, if something adverse happens it would certainly claim the lives. Even the representatives of local government i.e. block development council (BDC) Pouni and the district development council (DDC) including officers pass through the site, where the dead tree is hanging, but no one bothers to remove the ‘threat’ before it turns into an accident. Storms take place every day and in the coming days monsoon will reach here, then chances of felling of this dead tree would also be increased. The administration prior to any mishap, taking preventive measures should remove the tree. Naib Tehsildar, Pouni Krishan Chand when contacted said that he would seek a report from concerned Namberdar and then further action be taken. |
