Forcible conversion of Sikh girl condemned
6/28/2021 11:24:21 PM
Early Times Report

Jammu, June 28An emergency meeting of Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal), Jammu J&K was held under the chairmanship of Jethadar Mohinder Singh Party President where in the recent episode of kidnapping a Sikh girl at gun point and forcible conversion was strongly condemned.
The type of action by anti-social elements is an attempt to disturb and dislodge the communal harmony in Kashmir Valley which has been there since centuries. Such persons should be pinpointed and isolated not only by the Sikh Community but also by the majority community.
Here it is pertinent to mention that during the COVID-19 period and during unrest of CAA Sikh Community not only provided the shelter and food to the students (Male & Female) of Muslim Community but also arranged there safe travel to their homes in far flung areas in Kashmir Valley.
Such incidents have shattered the confidence of Sikh Community living throughout the valley. Under such circumstances the Administration needs to take harass steps to punish the culprits who are responsible for such acts. We appreciate the judiciary who has done justice by handing over the girl to her family.
Under such circumstances it is imperative and need of hour that the Inter caste Marriage Act which is prevalent in some states of India should be promulgated in the Union Territory of J&K for the safety and dignity of minorities. It was requested to His Excellency the Governor of J&K Manoj Sinha to rise to the occasion and get the law enacted in the Union Territory of J&K so that Minorities feel safe and Brotherhood which is prevalent since centuries flourishes uninterrupted.
Akali Dal Badal appreciates the immediate and quick action initiated by Manjinder Singh Sirsa President DGMSC who personally visited Srinagar to take stock of the situation and build up the confidence of Sikh Community.
An appeal was also made to all Political Parties and religious leaders of Kashmir Valley to condemn this episode and build up the confidence of minorities.
