Director Animal Husbandry Jammu holds interaction with Dairy farmers

JAMMU, June 28: Director, Animal Husbandry Jammu, Vivek Sharma today convened a meeting with the progressive dairy farmers of Jammu here at conference hall of Animal Husbandry complex Talab Tillo.
The main agenda of the interaction was to apprise the dairy farmers about the upcoming Vishal Pashudhan Vyapar Mela at Hiranagar (Kathua). The Director exhorted upon the participants to come forward as prospective buyers/ sellers of quality milch animals during the mela. In this regard, he advised them to register themselves on the web portal ‘e-pashuhaat’ and upload all the relevant details about their animals over it so as to enable the buyers to purchase the animals of their choice through the portal by using the e- GOPALA application.
The Chief Animal Husbandry officer Jammu also enlightened the farmers about the One District One Product scheme (ODOP) of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries of the Govt of India under which district Jammu has been selected for dairy products. The scheme envisages support in the form of subsidy to be provided to the dairy farmers who opt for the processing of milk.
During the course of interaction, the dairy farmers raised the issue of problems being faced by them regarding the marketing of the milk. In this regard the technical consultants suggested them to go for branding of their milk. The detailed procedure to be followed by the dairy farmers in this regard was also explained to them.
In the end the dairy farmers expressed gratitude to the department for convening such useful interactions for the betterment of the community engaged in the business of dairying.
The meeting, among others, was attended by the Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Jammu, Dr. Syed Altaf; Extension Officer Publicity Wing Animal Husbandry Department Jammu, Dr. Sunil Bazaz; Shri S.K. Industries Technical Consultant, Kamal Kishor Uppal and other technical persons associated with the marketing of agro/ dairy products.
