Actor/director Kedar Thakur features in Natrang’s Theatre Talk Show

JAMMU, June 30: ‘Young Voices of Theatre’, a unique National Theatre Talk Show by Natrang featured Kedar Thakur who is Sangeet Natak Akademi’s Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Awardee, theatre actor, director and trainer today, he shared his inspirational views with the global audience at the Facebook page of Natrang Jammu.
Born and brought up in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh, Kedar Thakur has been continuously active in theatre for the last 25 years. Recipient of Sangeet Natak Akademi’s ‘Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar’, Kedar has also been awarded Junior Fellowship in Folk Theatre by the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
He is very active in Children’s Theatre since last 12 years and has the credit of conducting 25 Children theatre workshops supported by Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, National School of Drama, Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, Department of Language, Art & Culture, Himachal Pradesh and other institutions of Himachal.
In an engaging conversation with Nartang’s senior artist Neeraj Kant, Kedar narrated his eventful journey of theatre which started incidentally during his school days. Fascinated by the vibrancy of theatre, Kedar decided to pursue it forever.
He invigorated himself in the field of theatre by attending several workshops by the experts in the field. Keen to spread the luminance of theatre amongst different sections of society, Kedar has worked intensively with jail inmates. He deliberated in detail about the folk forms of his region ‘Harul’ and ‘Thoda’ on which he has done a lot of work. Kedar believes in creating constructive dialogue amongst the art practitioners of different regions, so that collaborative efforts create a new vibe of cultural renaissance.
Having done regular and meaningful theatre with children, he has hopes on the new education policy which may facilitate intervention of art in education for the betterment of the society. He aims at establishing a residential theatre repertory which may put all the energies in the pursuit of art. He strongly advocates hard work and commitment as the keys to success in the field of theatre.
