Medicines for poor left to decay in Padder medical block | | | Asif Iqbal Naik

Kishtwar, June 30: Much to the disappointment of many poor people, the medicines worth lakhs were left abandoned in the medical store at Padder in this frontier district. As per the details available with Early Times, huge quantity of medicines viz allopathic and other medicines were supplied to Health Department by the government for further distribution among the people, but the official at the helm of affairs in the Padder Medical Block left these medicines unattended as a result of which majority of these drugs got expired. The I/C storekeeper, who according to the sources, is posted in Padder Medical block since last nearly three decades and has never been transferred paid no heed to safeguard the medicines procured for distribution among the people. Sources said the medicines were dumped in the store along with other dead rubble and as they expired they were thrown in an open field. Locals and the whistleblower have demanded stern action against the erring officials responsible for this lapse. Despite repeated attempts, in-charge Block Medical Officer Padder could not be reached for his comment. |
