Early Times Report

Jammu, June 30: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) in a meeting held at Village Tohana Tibba, R.S. Pura urged upon Justice Ranjna Prakash Desia chairperson Delimitation Commission to carve out 2 assembly constituencies exclusively for DPs of 1947 from POK out of seven increased seats for the time being till the section-63 of the Reorganization Act is reviewed and amended accordingly to defreeze the DP’s share of one-third of seat out of 24, which have been captivated again without any logic and justification.
Addressing the meeting Gurdev Singh, President alongwith Bhagwan Singh, Dwarka Nath Khajuria, Suram Singh Chib and Sub. Puran Singh said that Delimitation Commission has been set up to re-demarcate the existing constituencies in UT of J&K to give proper representation to all the sections of society to represent their aspirations.
He said that Delimitation Commission has almost completed the data collecting process to carve out the new constituencies on the basis of 2011 census. Expressing the DP’s concern, he said that despite of several representations made by JKSAC to the Delimitation Commission with copies to Home Minister of India in this regard, no feedback has been taken from DPs yet.
He appreciated and welcomed the step the govt. has taken by advising the Delimitation Commission to take all the political parties and stake holders in confidence before taking the final call on the subject matter. The DPs has pinned high hope on Delimitation Commission which is all set to meet the people at gross root level as per the govt. advisory to seek their suggestions to bifurcate the constituencies for the overall development of people and redressal of their issues.
Gurdev Singh asserted that Commission is all powerful and can carve out easily 2 constituencies for DPs in view of having their large concentrations in Gandhi Nagar, R.S.Pura and Suchetgarh constituencies. He said that DPs are the most suffering section of the society and their legitimate grievances with regard to their adequate rehabilitation have always been denied and ignored. It all happened for the simple reason that they have been made political orphans by denying their representation in the legislature and added that the people whom they voted to power in the hope that they would project their issues in the right perspective for adequate redressal, have never looked back. Later on a 21 members committee was constituted headed by Bagwan Singh as President and Choudhary Suram Singh Chib as General Secy in the presence of S. Gurdev Singh, President JKSAC. This committee would work at grass root level to strengthen the organization and would apprise the DPs about their basic issues and also help them in resolution of day-to-day issues. The names of the other members are Dayal Singh Lambardar, Tarsem Singh, Joginder Lal, Master Sant Ram, Pawan Kumar, Kuldeep Singh, Jasbir Singh, Tilak Raj, Jagtar Singh, Shamsher Singh, Joginder Lal, Madan Lal, Master Raj Dev Singh, Bhumi Nath, Vijay Singh, Surjeet Singh, Omkar Singh, Romesh Kumar and Gurjeet Singh.
