PHSC Chairman assures completion of de-silting work before onset of monsoon | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 30: Chairman Public Health and Sanitation Committee (PHSC) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Narinder Singh Jamwal today reviewed the ongoing de-silting work at Shakti Nagar which falls in Zone 2 of Jammu. He was accompanied by CTOs and Health Officer of JMC during his tour to these areas of de-silting work execution. While taking stock of the ongoing de-silting works, Jamwal directed the concerned Supervisor to remain present at the spot of work execution upto 4 PM till the works get finally completed. The PHSC Chairman while interacting with the people on the occasion said that the de-silting work of all Nallahs falling within the jurisdiction of JMC would be completed before the onset of Monsoon in Jammu. The PHSC Chairman expressed concern over the fact that some people residing in the areas immediately adjoining the Nallahs turn these into garbage dumps by throwing all sorts of wastage from their houses into it which does not only make the environment unhygienic but also makes de-silting work cumbersome. He said that such elements just to avoid payment of user charges for proper disposal of garbage from houses through the established system of JMC are not creating problems only for the people of the whole area but are even putting their own health at risk. Moreover during the rainy season due to such garbage in the Nallah it gets blocked and the rain water gets deviated and inundates the residential houses thus causing damage to the properties. Reiterating JMC’s commitment to address people’s suffering and problems the PHSC Chairman appealed to the people at large to conduct themselves as responsible citizens and refrain from throwing unwanted material in Nallahs thus helping in making Jammu a Clean and Green City. |
