Workshop on Psychosocial Counseling and Covid helper skills organized organized | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jun 30: Online workshop on guidance for Psychosocial Counseling and Covid helper skills organized at GGM Science College under the aegis of Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education, Government of India. GGM Science College, Jammu under the patronage of Principal Dr. Ravender Tickoo organized an online workshop Guidance for Psychosocial Counselling and Covid Helper Skills; under Swachhta Action Plan on Psycho-social support for Covid-19 pandemic conditions under the aegis of Higher Education Department, Ministry of Education, and Government of India MGNCRE, Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, in Government of India strives to promote resilient rural India through Higher Education interventions. The resource person Ajay Tanwar, a representative of (MGNCRE), had varied experience in the field of academic, handling finance, organizing and conducting workshops/ competition at state, regional, and national level. He has also contributed in material generation for varied projects under Punjab and Ventel. The workshop started with welcome address by NSS PO Dr. Narender Kumar. The highly interactive session by Ajay focused on development of listening skills, the feelings, issues and needs associated with the person having covid or in his family. How to deal with the well being physically and mentally so that even with social distancing none is left alone in society. The formation of teams pertaining to helping in terms of basic facilities, food supply, medical facilities, hospital information, financial assistance and most important emotional support are the various fields where we can reach out in this pandemic. The awareness to vaccinate and help those booking slots is the major concern. Vice Principal Prof. Anil Vema praised the efforts put by NSS Volunteers, NCC cadets particularly in the pandemic. NSS PO Dr. Deepali Mahajan emphasized on the need to educate participants on how they can help volunteers to integrate psychosocial support skills into their services when they come in contact with infected people during the pandemic, the importance of ministry’s initiative ‘each one reach one’. The program ended by vote of thanks by Dr. Faraz Ahmed.The program was coordinated by NSS PO’s Dr. Narender Kumar, Dr. Deepali Mahajan, NCC ANO’s Dr. Anjana Sharma and Dr, Faraz Ahmed. The workshop was attended by NSS Volunteers and NCC cadets.
