GDC Kalakote organizes online lecture on “Learning English as a Second Language”

RAJOURI, July 4: Department of English in collaboration with EBSB Club and Literary Club of Government Degree College (GDC) Kalakote, under the guidance of Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the college organized online Lecture on the topic, Learning English as a Second Language: “Listening and Speaking Skills”.
“English in India is taught as the second language at every level of education. We have also accepted it as the main medium of learning and instruction in higher education. Today, English has become an integral part of our education system from literature to science and technology, arts and sports.” It was with this spirit, GDC Kalakote, organized this online lecture, to teach students the art to master this language eventually. Dr Namita Chouhan, Head Department of English, S S Jain Subodh PG College, Jaipur, Rajasthan, was the Resource Person for this event. The programme started with a welcome address presented by Dr Naseer-ud- din sofi (HOD English). Speaking at the event, through an online platform, Dr Namita Chouhan, gave a detailed lecture and discussed in detail the various aspects of speaking and Learning English as a second language. She empathized on the fact that language is a vital part of human connection and as English is the most spoken language in the world, it can be a great means to communicate and connect with people across the globe.
Dr Romesh Kumar Gupta while interacting with the students and other participants highlighted that, as speaking English allows us to actually broaden our boundaries, and ability to relate to people from every country, learning this language holds great importance in today’s world.
The programme ended with a vote of thanks presented by Prof Marve Sofi (Convener Literary Club) through an online mode.
