Mental health as important as physical health: LFO-BH Foundation | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, July 4: Live For Others Being Helpful Foundation (LFO-BH) organized a virtual session on "Mental Health in Covid-19". Divya Puri, Assistant Professor, Psychology, Government Degree College, Ramnagar was the resource person for the very session. As the coronavirus pandemic sweeps across the world, it has interrupted essential mental health services around the world. “The issue facing each and every one of us is how we manage and react to the stressful situation unfolding so rapidly in our lives and communities. And we must try to focus on to respond most effectively to this crisis as individuals, family and community members, friends and colleagues,” said Puri, Assistant Prof Psychology. In this webinar, Puri interacted with the other volunteers and also explained that "The preponderant issue is that of fear”. She explained that a whole lot of fear plays in one's mind like what is going to happen, whether a hospital bed will be available, what will happen to one's lungs and other organs - "a whole lot of fears". “Good mental health is absolutely fundamental to overall health and well-being. The most important thing that we need to develop as a society is compassion and understanding. COVID-19 is a universal problem as all are suffering either directly or indirectly," stated Vivek Parihar (Director/CEO of LFO-BH). Around 70 volunteers attended this webinar. Manoj Kumar, NSS District Nodal officer (Colleges) Kurukshetra and NSS PO DAV College Pehowa along with his college students were also present in this webinar and also interacted with other volunteers. And by contributing towards this webinar, Rubina Jamwal, Vidhushi Dhiman and Rimpi Sharma did a commendable job by organizing this whole virtual webinar and making this webinar a huge success.
