Congress to meet Delimitation Commission both in Srinagar, Jammu
Regrets calling far-flung districts to Jammu or Srinagar
7/4/2021 11:44:22 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, July 4: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) shall represent the visiting Delimitation Commission in Srinagar and Jammu, as per schedule and has asked its District units and senior Congress leaders in different districts to seek time to meet the commission to represent their respective districts but regretted the very short duration and calling people from all far flung districts to represent either at Jammu or Srinagar.
JKPCC has announced that it would send its delegations at Srinagar and Jammu both before the commission besides seeking time for meetings of its delegations in all district delegations, to represent the voice and aspirations of respective districts, however regretted calling all representatives of different political parties and other groups to either in Jammu or Srinagar for a very hurried short time meeting is not justified, JKPCC Chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma said. Seven districts of Jammu region have been allotted one hour while five districts of Kashmir allotted half hour for meetings, as per schedule, he disclosed.
The Delimitation commission was expected to visit at least each and every district HQ and rather each and every constituency headquarters to listen to the wide spectrum of people and not only the political leaders and parties, to make the exercise more meaningful as per ground realities.
The commission should consider these suggestions of the Congress party in the larger interests and should invite more suggestions and requests directly apart from routing through DCs/DEOs.
The commission which is visiting as per demand in the all party meeting, after more one year and three months of its constitution, should consider giving reasonable time and space to all especially far flung areas too and as far as possible visit different regions and districts for better understanding of the requirements and norms for Delimitation which include apart from population, the area, the topography/geography, connectivity and such other like parameters, Sharma said ,adding that the party shall put forth it's view point and demand it's visits to different Districts and areas to listen to the people for a more fair, transparent , meaningful exercise based on equity, and justice.
