Director Horticulture visits Rajouri

RAJOURI, July 18: Director Horticulture Jammu Ram Savak, KAS made an extensive tour of Rajouri district where he kick started the plantation drive in the Horticulture Zone Sunderbani and Nowshera during the Rainy season plantation as a part of celebration of Horticulture Week
He stressed upon them to come forward for planting high density mango plants for which a good incentive is being given and as a part of this scheme, our department has initiated with starting these commercial mango varieties like Kessar & Alfanso in the village Pelli of Zone Sunderbani and Rajal of Zone Nowshera.
While interacting with the participants, the Director emphasized that last year we have enhanced the incentive for strawberry cultivation to Rs. 0.13 lac per kanal and advised them to go for diversified farming so that they can get the maximum returns per unit area.
The Director also elaborated the gathering about the importance of facilitation centres in the Rajouri District regarding the availability of high quality planting material and value added products. He also emphasized that these Centers will serve as common platform for them to demonstrate and sell their produce also.
He also visited Govt. Fruit Plant Nursery Siot and took stock of the ongoing developmental activities and gave on spot instructions to the field staff to work hard with zeal and dedication and achieve the allotted targets in time.
Chief Horticulture Officer ML Tak also interacted with the participants and assured them that all their genuine demands as per departmental norms shall be resolved. DHO, DLSMS and MCC Rajouri also accompanied and other officers accompanied the Director during the tour.
