GDC Basohli organizes online poster making competition

BASOHLI, July 18: To commemorate "Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav", the Department of English organized an e-poster making competition on the occasion of "Nelson Mandela Day" on the theme: "World Peace and Harmony".
In the welcome address, Prof. Sheetal Lalotra, Department of English talked about the significance of the day, its relevance in the contemporary world and how students can bring a significant change in the society by following the path of Nelson Mandela. Prof. Sadaf Nasti, Department of English, stressed upon the need for peace and goodwill in the world.
She, further, briefed the students about the proceedings of the programme. The inaugural address was presented by Principal of the college, Dr. Nidhi Kotwal in which she highlighted the importance of world peace and role of Nelson Mandela in bringing a positive change in the society.
The proceeding of the event was attended by all the faculty members of the college. In the event, around 30 college students participated in the competition. The students were given one hour thirty minutes to make the posters. Among all the participants, Ravina Malik of Semester II secured the first position, Shipali Billowria of Semester IV secured the second position, Nandani of Semester II secured the third position. In addition to this, three consolation positions were bagged by Nirmal Singh of Semester VI, Nisha Thakur of Sem VI and Sudhanshu Mishra of Sem VI respectively. At the last, a formal vote of thanks was presented by Prof. Sheetal Lalotra.
