Three day painting workshop concludes at JU

JAMMU, July 18: Three-Day 'Online painting workshop' organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu concluded today with the exhibition of the artistic work created by children during the workshop.
Prof. Manoj K. Dhar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu was the Chief Guest at the occasion who not only appreciated the creative works presented by children but also complimented their parents for utilizing the time of their wards in constructive pursuits.
He also appreciated Dean Students Welfare, Prof. Prakash Antahal, Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee, Prof. Vishav Raksha and their team for coming forward with a series of meaningful events for the stakeholders of the university. He complemented the resource person for igniting the spark of creativity in children who otherwise were stuck in houses because of the corona crisis. He also asserted that children will be benefitted by this training as it will inculcate in them many values. Deepa Soni, a visual artist of national repute was the Resource Person of the workshop who compassionately trained the children.
In his welcome address, Prof. Prakash Antahal informed that the Department of Students Welfare, with the inputs from Campus Cultural Committee is always keen to organise meaningful events which inculcate creativity, positivity and intellect amongst the participants.
Prof. Sanjana Kaul, Co-Chairperson Campus Cultural Committee presented a detailed report on how this workshop has benefitted the children and expressed that this will certainly inculcate Imagination, observation, patience and confidence in them. She also appreciated Ms. Deepa Soni who not only specializes in acrylics & oils but also explores different art mediums like water colours, resin art, mix media etc. and has participated in many National and International exhibitions. A graduate in fashion designing, Deepa is also a diploma holder in Basohli Miniature Painting.
Prof. Vishav Raksha presented the vote of thanks and on behalf of the campus cultural committee, asserted that several events of different genres are in the pipeline for the benefit of students and scholars. She also expressed gladness over such a tremendous response to the workshop and shared the idea behind conducting this workshop which is to provide a creative outlet to children and create team-spirit among them.
The event was organised under the guidance of Prof. Prakash Antahal, Prof. Vishav Raksha, Prof Sanjana Kaul, Prof. B.K. Bajaj, Dr. Garima Gupta, Dr. Pritam Singh, members of Campus Cultural Committee and was ably conducted by Dr. Suvidha Khanna. Mansi Mantoo, Sumeet Sharma and Arif Paul looked after the logistics.
