115 new inmates take refuge at shelter home Kalka Colony | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, July 21: A total of 115 people, displaced by heavy rains have taken shelter at Shelter Home Kalka colony, being run by Jagriti Mahila Udyog Kendra (JMUK). Veena Bakshi president of JMUK informed that 115 new inmates took shelter here due to damage to their houses in the latest rains and floods in river Tawi. "We have been arranging food and shelter day and night till they will get back to their residence. Apart from these, 20 more inmates have been accommodated as permanent affected people that include old age, women, children", She said. Sham Lal Bassan Corporator of area also extended helping hand to run the activities of shelter home smoothly. "No financial help is sanctioned so for towards the shelter home requirements either from govt or from other sources which needs to be given priority to meet urgency of cases", she said, adding however shelter home welcomed all those affected who were homeless and those who are flood affected. |
