Early Times Report

JAMMU, Aug 4: Stressing on achieving the target set in by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double farmers’ income, DDC Chairman Bharat Bhushan said that switching over to organic farming can prove to be a game changer as this can raise the income considerably besides attaining harmony with nature.
The DDC Chairman was chairing a meeting in his office chamber for disseminating information on centrally sponsored schemes envisaged for the farming community of the region. ADC Jammu Ramesh Kumar, DDC Member Maira Mandrian Suresh Sharma, CAO Jammu Arvind Baru, SDAO Marh Dr. Ashwani Jojra, SDAO Dansal Prem Singh, SDAO RS Pura N.P Singh and SDAO Akhnoor Surinder Kumar Bhat were present in the meeting. The DDC Chairman said that best farming practices adopted by the progressive farmers of the country should invariably be brought to J&K for changing the course of life here. He said that far flung Sikkim has achieved 100 percent organic farming and pesticide free target several years ago then why not J&K can do the same for better health and good income. The CAO Jammu and all SDAOs of Jammu assured the DDC Chairman that the Department of Agriculture will leave no stone unturned for the benefit of the farming community.
