Director Skill Development reviews functioning of Department in Rajouri, Poonch | Inspects facilities in technical education institutions of twin districts | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 4: Director Skill Development Jammu and Kashmir, Sudershan Kumar conducted an extensive tour of Rajouri and Poonch and reviewed the functioning of technical education institutions in the twin districts, He inspected the Government Polytechnic Poonch, Rajouri, besides ITI Poonch, Rajouri, Kalakote, Nowshera and Sunderbani. The Heads of Institutions apprised the Director regarding overall functioning of the institutions, status of online training and various steps undertaken to achieve 100% targets with regard to the intake capacity of Institutions and conduct of examinations smoothly. He asked the Heads to take all necessary steps to ensure that no seat is left vacant in these Institutions. He advised them to undertake an extensive awareness campaign through print and electronic media and hold interactions with the heads of educational institutions like Degree Colleges, Higher Secondary Schools, High Schools and Urban Local Bodies and Panchayati Raj Institutions to rope in the school/ college dropouts. He exhorted upon the Principals and Superintendents to constitute Placement cells in every Institute and establish close liaison with the Industry for facilitating the placement of the pass out trainees. The Director emphasized that the vocational Education and Training system is to be geared up to cater to the present needs of skilled human resource as per the demand of the market. In order to bridge the gap between demand and supply and to keep pace with Global technological expansion, the introduction of demand driven courses in ITIs and Polytechnics is the need of the hour, he added. The Director Skill development, while interacting with the faculty, during inspection of various workshops/classrooms, instructed them to conduct an internal audit of their respective institutions in terms of availability of Human resources, infrastructure and courses being offered by the Institutes and come up with a comprehensive proposal in this regard. |
