DSEJ hosts panel discussion on “Independence: The Real Meaning’ | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Aug 4: Counselling Cell, Directorate of School Education Jammu today organised an online panel discussion on the topic - ‘Independence: The Real Meaning’ as part of 75th Independence Day celebrations, here today. The event was attended by students, teachers and officials from all the 10 districts of Jammu division through virtual mode with the unified vision of permeating and assimilating the true values of independence and freedom. Col. Dr. Vikram K Sahi Vrc, Dr. Chand Trehan and Dr. Surinder Sharma were the panelists on the occasion. Col. Dr. Vikram K Sahi VRC, while speaking on the occasion, presented a soldier’s perspective on the independence and highlighted the many sacrifices it took to attain independence. He said that even though India has achieved independence militarily, a lot needs to be done on a socio-economic front. ”It would take a collective effort of the entire nation and not only the armed forces to achieve the desired results” he added. He further added that students are the future of the nation and much needs to be done to capitalize on this limitless resource. Dr. Chand Trehan talked about psychological aspects of independence and freedom. He highlighted the importance of events such as the one being organised by the Directorate of School Education Jammu and how morale of a nation plays a crucial role in inching closer towards the utopian vision of freedom and independence that the founding fathers of the nation envisioned. Dr. Surinder Sharma addressed the participants from a sociological point of view and divulged on the importance of understanding the true meaning of concepts like freedom and independence and the role it plays in the development of a nation. Dr. Alka Sharma moderated the event while Mr. Danish Aziz (UNICEF) provided the technical support.
