| Tweet issued on behalf of Geelani is fake: Police | | |

SRINAGAR, Aug 4: A Jammu and Kashmir police spokesman said on Wednesday that tweet issued on behalf of former chairman of hardline Hurriyat Conference (HC) is fake.
A message was being circulated on the social media that Geelani has issued a strike call on August 5 as on this day in 2019 centre abrogated Article 370 and 35 A besides divided the Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories (UTs).
Spokesman said as per family members of Geelani, the tweet is fake and issued by someone from Pakistan.
He said police is taking action against those who are circulating it to instigate violence.
Case FIR under relevant sections of the under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act has been registered in police station Badgam in the central Kashmir.
Similar fake messages on behalf of Geelani were issued from Pakistan in the past also.
