Government Employees Federation stages protest
8/6/2021 11:28:18 PM
Early Times Report
KATHUA, Aug 6: Demanding benefits of Union Territory (J&K), the members of All J&K Low Paid Government Employees Federation staged protest demonstration under the leadership of District President Kabla Singh, here on Friday.
Kabla Singh while addressing media said that during year 2019 Government of India promised to extend all benefits to J&K like other UT's of nation. After the lapse of 2 years from the date of conversion of State into UT, it is regretted to point out that no benefits has been provided to the people of J&K UT in general, employees/pensioners, daily wagers, village guards and similar situated employees particularly have been deprived of their legitimate demands.
Kabla Singh said that as far as DA concerns, its settled principle that as and when prices arise the Government is committed to provide DA. But to our dismay the genuine claim was freezed with effect from Jan 2020 and now the Government defreezed announcing 115 DA to be paid from July 2021. The Government has not cleared about 18 months arrears payment, which may kindly paid to employees/pensioners.
Regarding Medical Allowance, which presently is being paid Rs 300/- per month, Kabla Singh demanded same to be enhanced to Rs 1000/-, which Delhi and Chandigarh UT's are paying.
The other demands include providing leave travelling concession, increase in house rent, Masters/Lecturers to be transferred as per transfer policy of Education Department, the departmental promotions of Headmasters and Principals to be made to fulfill the vacant posts, regularization of contractual/daily rated workers as many of these have rendered 10-20 years of service, and release of wages to daily wagers which is pending for last 65 months.
In addition the federation giving reference of Village Guards said that they are being paid a meager wages of Rs 1500/- per month in JK, whereas their counterparts in other states are working as regular employees and enjoying all benefits.
