ASHWANI SHARMA
Early Times Report

UDHAMPUR, Aug 6: Authorities have failed to repair the link roads in Udhampur district due to which people are suffering.
The 900 meter stretch from Dhar Road to Malaniya Mohalla Road in Ward 4, Gudar area of Panchayat Darsoo, Udhampur is in shambles.
"Work on this stretch of road started about 15 years ago but has not been completed till date due to which a population of above 3000 souls is suffering," sources claimed.
They further informed that beyond this stretch being in bad shape, there is a road maintained by PMGSY and it extends to 14 km constructed by PMGSY in two parts.
"One part is from Malaniya Mohalla to Kaleman and is of 7 km while the other stretch is also of about 7 km and is from and Kaleman to Darsoo and was blacktopped in about 2017-2018 ", they said, adding that nearly 1km dilapidated stretch is rendering the remaining 14 km road is useless as it forms the vital connect even the road has mentioned is back to village programs (1,2,3) but improvement is zero."
"We have to park our vehicles at Dhar Road as the nearly 1 km stretch is in a very bad shape and for the parked vehicles we always fear thefts," a local resident said.
"The politicians come and ask for votes but none has worked for the improvement of this road," another local said.
Yet another road from CEO Office to Dandiyal is in municipal limit of town is also in poor shape and is even unfit for pedestrians.
Locals informed that there are many more such roads in the district which fail to invite attention of the concerned authorities.
When contacted XEn PWD, Mohammad Zabir said, "Darh road - Malaniya mohalla portion is not in their plan and will be taken in the plain next year while work will be started on the CEO Office-Dandiyal Road with the improvement in climate."
