8/6/2021 11:51:00 PM

Early Times Report

POONCH, Aug 6: Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr. Basharat Hussain today presided over the proceedings of the Public hearing for Minor Mineral (River Bed Material) Project. The project envisages mining sand in an area of 6.42 hectares at Block No.-01 at Suran River Downstream, Sher-e- Kashmir Bridge Part-1 and district Poonch.
During the hearing, the PRI members and locals raised various mining related and other developmental issues. They demanded strict action against illegal mining and complained that many children have drowned into the river due to illegal mining. They sought preference to the locals while issuing tenders so that unemployed youth can avail the benefit. The ADC made the locals aware regarding the proposed riverbed mining project. He advised the people to immediately inform the local Panchayat or administration about any attempt of illegal mining so that strict action could be taken against the culprit. He assured that the genuine concerns of the locals for reasonable rates of minor minerals and mining rights to their respective villages shall be appropriately addressed. He said that water spraying of haulage on roads shall be done twice a day to control dust emission. The Public hearing concluded with vote of thanks by Divisional Officer Pollution Control committee, Badar Hussain.
