Removal of 35-A reunited daughters to their birth land: Rekha | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Aug 28: Stating that the removal of 35-A has given a big relief to the daughters of the soil, Jammu and Kashmir BJP, Secretary, Rekha Mahajan, said that it has brought joy and happiness among a large population of the females born in Jammu and Kashmir as its State Subjects but lost even their fundamental rights after being married to other State or UT. Rekha Mahajan said that the unfortunate daughters of Jammu and Kashmir were going through a mental stress for being declared strangers and non entities for the reason being that the political parties like NC and PDP never had any concern to revisit the discriminatory provision and provide relief to them. "The BJP had always been agitating for complete integration of the State with the Indian Union right from the days of Praja Parishad and abrogation of Article 370 and 35- A always remained on top agenda of the party", Rekha said and added that Union government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi fulfilled the promise of removing the controversial and discriminatory provisions of the Constitution which had given a free hand to Kashmir centric parties to maintain hegemony of Kashmir over Jammu and adopt a soft approach towards such forces which posed threat to the unity and integrity of Bharat Maa. Rekha Mahajan said that the removal of 35-A is not going to benefit the females of Jammu only but our sisters in Kashmir as well as Ladakh too will have its advantages. They should not fall prey to the false and emotional campaign launched by the political parties under the umbrella of Gupkar Alliance promising the restoration of Art 370 and 35-A, and instead, take pledge to defeat their politically motivated designs for own survival, she said. The BJP Secretary further said that Article 370, although incorporated as a temporary provision in the Constitution of India, had a long life of over 70 years, before its abrogation by the BJP government through proper constitutional procedure in both the houses of the Parliament of India. During all these years of it's existence, it was used to deny citizenship rights to lakhs of refugees from West Pakistan for the simple reason that almost majority of them were settled in Jammu. |
