After week-long hot, humid conditions, weather turns pleasant in Kashmir | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Aug 28: After witnessed week-long hot and humid conditions, weather turned pleasant in the Kashmir valley, where the maximum temperature witnessed sharp decline and settled below normal on Saturday. A Met department spokesman said this evening that there could be isolated to scattered light rain and thundershowers in the Jammu and Kashmir divisions. There will be large change in the weather during the subsequent two days, he said. Early morning showers accompanied by strong winds has resulted in drop in the maximum temperature on Saturday, when sun was playing hide and seek behind the clouds during the day. Srinagar witnessed pleasant weather after the maximum temperature was recorded 26.6 degree, which was 2.6 notches below normal against yesterdays 33.1 degree, 3.9 notches above normal. He said the sky would be partly cloudy and there could be very light rain and thundershowers and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 28 degree and 17 degree in Srinagar during the next 24 hours. The world famous ski resort of Gulmarg recorded 18 degree maximum temperature, 2.2 degree below normal while the minimum temperature was 9.4 degree, 1.6 degree below normal. At Pahalgam, a famous health resort in south Kashmir, the maximum temperature was 22.6 degree, which was 2.3 degree below normal. The minimum temperature was 14.8 degree which was however, 3.3 degree above normal. Qazigund, gateway of Kashmir on Srinagar-Jammu national, recorded 26.1 degree maximum temperature which was 1.3 degree below normal. The minimum temperature there was 16.2 degree, 1.7 degree above normal. He said Leh and Kargil recorded 24 degree and 31 degree maximum temperature respectively today. |
