SUF enumerates demands projected before HM by Mahant Manjit Singh

JAMMU, Oct 26: Mahant Manjit Singh of Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch has put forth several demands of Sikh minorities before Union Home Minister (HM) Amit Shah during his recent visit to Jammu at Digiana Ashram, informed Sudershan Singh Wazir, Chairman Sikh United Front (SUF) J&K.
Addressing a press conference here today, Sudershan Singh Wazir said that the demands were projected in the shape of a memorandum submitted to Union Home Minister by Mahant Manjit Singh.
Singh said that the memorandum had details about the past and present situation and the difficulties being faced by the minorities in J&K especially the Sikhs and in a very forceful manner the demands of the community were put forth before the Home Minister.
Wazir further said that the issues enumerated in the memorandum included defreezing 8 seats from the PoK reserved assembly seats and earmarked them for the displaced persons/refugees of 1947 and formulation of special provision through Delimitation Commission for creating Assembly constituencies both in Jammu & Kashmir for Sikh minority and resolution of the issues of farmers by engaging them in a dialogue as the farmers have been protesting on the roads for the last about 11 months and a number of lives have been lost, grant of Relief & Rehabilitation package to POJK Displaced Persons of 1947 on similar lines as are being given to internally displaced persons of Kashmir (Kashmiri Migrants) and Constitution of Separate Relief & Rehabilitation Development Board of POJK 1947, inclusion of Punjabi in the list of official languages of J&K, constitution of Minority Commission and declaring Sikhs as Minority in J&K, enactment of Sikhs Anand Karaj Act with Anti-Conversion Law in J&K, appointment of a Sikh as Advisor to Lieutenant Governor of J&K viz a viz as a member in J&K Public Service Commission besides raising other points.
Wazir also welcomed yesterday's statement of the Home Minister that Govt of India would talk to the people of J&K especially the youth to bring peace and tranquility in the UT.
The Sikh leaders who participated in the press conference included Mohinder Singh Chief Organizer Bhai Kaniya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and ex-Member DGPC Jammu, Charanjeet Singh retired SDM, Paramjit Singh Raina ex-Councillor, Surinder Singh Kala President Fruit and Vegetable Association, Gajan Singh President Transport Association J&K, Prof Yudhvir Singh Councillor, Surjeet Singh Kukoo President Sikh Naujawan Sabha, Harpeet Singh Lucky President Sikh Student Federation and several others.
