Awareness intensified in Tribal populated areas of Gandoh | Gojri, Kashmir Nukkad Nataks presented at Chilly village | | Early Times Report DODA, Oct 28: As a part of UT Government's initiative to spread awareness about POSHAN (Prime Minister's Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment) among the tribal population, National Health Mission and Tribal Affairs Department, in collaboration with the District Information Center Doda has launched a massive campaign in Gandoh Tehsil to educate Tribal folks about the significance of nutritional diet for well being of women and children. In the series, a cultural program featuring two Nukkad Nataks in Gojri and Kashmiri, besides folk songs was today organised here at Government Higher Secondary School Chilly. The objective of the awareness programme is to educate people about the problem of malnutrition and the importance of proper nutrition for the well being of pregnant women, lactating mothers and children. The artists educated the people about the diet to prevent growth inhibition, malnutrition (underweight epidemic), anemia, and low birth weight (LBW) in infants, women, and adolescent girls. Tribal residents in the region praised the efforts of the government and artists and appreciated the impactfull initiative of NHM J&K, Tribal Research Institute J&K, and DIPR. The artists performed Gojri Natak and Gojri song on the subject in a professional manner and threw light on the importance of balanced diet for children, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers. The program was presided over by Principal of the host school Ch Noor Mohammad. Senior lecturers of HSS Chilly, Incharge Cultural Cell zone Gandoh Jamat Ali, Nighat Naz Cultural Ambassador zone Gandoh, teachers, students and locals of the area were also present on the ocassion. |
